I aim to create things that are easy on the eyes, and easy to understand—beautiful things, that makes sense.
I love working with a team toward a common goal and alternately being able to use my expertise to fill in the gaps while stepping back to let others shine too. Any successful project is a team effort and joining forces with other talented teammates who are also just as driven to find the best solution is a privilege.
Most of my experience is in creating UIs for apps and websites, and I also really enjoy precise design jobs like creating style guides, toolkits, and templates.
I'm fascinated by the psychology behind good design and, no matter what I'm working on, my focus is on the end user.
In fact, when my husband and I bought our first home a few years ago, I used my creativity specifically to solve "user" issues in our house.
Owning a home means that by default I became a real estate agent, DIY handyman, and interior designer. Since I started freelancing, working on my home nourishes my work in so many ways. Fixing, organizing, and improving is creative thinking in three dimensions; it's a way to move around and take a break from the virtual world.
Having a place to be quiet, carefree, and introspective is crucial for my creative spirit.
We've also adopted two actual living things: our dogs, Fiona and Ellie. They remind me to go outside, take a break, be silly and enjoy life for a moment, even during a tight timeline.
Someday, we plan on moving, dogs and all, to where I started studying design: Australia. For now, I love designing my best life in California's Central Coast.
